OverviewWhat is Packview?

Packview is a free, browser-based box dieline generator and 3D packaging design tool. It ships with 92 parametric box models covering common FEFCO/ECMA styles, each recalculating cut lines, creases, and manufacturing dimensions from your length, width, and height in real time. It supports per-face artwork, PBR materials, open/close animation, and PNG/JSON export, with PDF/DXF/SVG dieline export for production reference. No download or signup required.

OverviewWhat is a 3D box designer or packaging mockup simulator?

A 3D box designer lets you preview how flat packaging artwork and structural choices will look on a three-dimensional carton or mailer box. The packaging simulator applies realistic lighting and materials so stakeholders can review proportions, opening styles, and brand presentation before printing.

Getting StartedIs Packview a free 3D box design tool?

Yes. Packview is a free 3D box maker and design tool that runs entirely in your browser. There are no paywalls on dimensions, materials, opening styles, per-face artwork, HDRI lighting, PNG preview exports, or JSON import/export. You can start designing without creating an account.

OverviewWhat is 3D box simulation used for?

3D box simulation helps packaging designers, brand teams, and printers validate size proportions, artwork layout, and opening styles before die-making or producing physical samples. It is ideal for client presentations, e-commerce mockups, and internal design reviews rather than for engineered production dielines.

vs. CAD ToolsIs this a replacement for Esko, ArtiosCAD, or professional packaging CAD?

No. Those platforms are for engineered production dielines. This 3D packaging simulator helps you communicate look and feel, camera angles, and rough proportions in the early stages. It exports viewport PNGs, not print-ready files.

vs. CAD ToolsHow is a 3D box design tool different from mockup template websites?

Template libraries offer fixed box shapes where you simply upload artwork. A 3D box design tool like Packview lets you adjust width, height, depth, materials, lid and flap opening styles, and per-face graphics in the same interactive viewport, making it better suited to custom carton sizes and structural previews.

TechnicalDoes the 3D box simulator work on mobile?

The studio is built for WebGL-capable desktop browsers. Phones may be able to run it, but the control density is optimized for keyboard and mouse users.

Privacy & DataWhere is my data stored?

While you work, design data is kept in your browser session, with recent designs and custom content stored locally. Cloud save and sharing are not available yet, so your artwork is never uploaded to any cloud server, and export files are generated and downloaded locally by your browser.

Export & FilesWhat is required to export production dieline files (SVG / DXF / PDF)?

Production dieline files are used directly for printing and die-cutting. They require: 1. a logged-in account; 2. a verified email; and 3. an active Pro trial (a 14-day trial starts automatically when you log in). Without logging in or verifying your email, only the free low-resolution PNG preview with a watermark is available. Once your email is verified and you remain on Pro, all production exports such as SVG, DXF, and PDF are unlocked.

Export & FilesHow do I send my design to a client or colleague?

Use the Export menu to download PNG, SVG, DXF, PDF, and other files and send them directly. A viewport PNG is great for quickly sharing a visual preview with clients, while SVG / DXF / PDF are production dieline files available after logging in, verifying your email, and staying on Pro. Cloud share links are not available yet.

TechnicalWill colors on screen match the printed result?

Screen previews are based on the RGB color space and depend on your monitor's calibration. This tool is for structure and graphic layout, not ink proofing or print validation. Always verify color accuracy through your printer's proofing process.

Export & FilesCan I export or import a 3D box design as JSON?

Yes. In the studio you can download a v1 JSON file containing dimensions, materials, openings, viewport options, per-face rotations, and images encoded as base64. Importing the file on another machine or browser restores the same preview, which is great for offline backups and cross-device migration.

Export & FilesWhat file formats can I export?

The studio supports many exports: PNG snapshots of the 3D viewport (for demos and marketing), SVG and DXF vector dielines, PDF production references with real OCG layers, GLB 3D mockups, PNG + artwork composites, color registration sheets at 300dpi, plus MP4 short videos and JSON config import/export. Production dieline files (SVG / DXF / PDF / GLB / color registration sheets) require logging in with a verified email, while the PNG preview is free.

OverviewWhat types of boxes can I design?

Packview supports folding cartons and mailer boxes with configurable lid and flap openings. You can set custom dimensions in millimeters, centimeters, or inches, and apply artwork independently to each face.

Getting StartedWho is Packview for?

Graphic designers, freelance packaging designers, brand managers, and print shops that need quick 3D box previews without installing CAD software. It complements structural engineering tools when you need production-ready dielines, rather than replacing them.

vs. CAD ToolsCan Packview replace paid packaging design tools?

For quick 3D box mockups and client previews, yes. Paid all-in-one packaging platforms offer huge die-cut template libraries, print-ready exports, and 4K marketing-grade renders. Packview is a free browser-based tool focused on interactive 3D simulation, with custom dimensions, per-face artwork, material presets, and PNG export, with no subscriptions or credits. Use a professional dieline platform when you need production dielines and Packview when you need fast visual validation.

Getting StartedDoes this online box mockup generator require downloading software?

No. Packview is a browser-based online box mockup generator. Just open the studio in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge, with no installs, plugins, or desktop licenses. WebGL support is recommended for smooth 3D rendering.

OverviewCan I use 3D box mockups in Amazon or Shopify listings?

Yes. Export a viewport PNG for Amazon main images, A+ content, Shopify product pages, or social ads. Mockups let you test angles and artwork before a photo shoot. For final product shots, many sellers still use professional physical photography, but 3D previews speed up early listing setup and internal approvals.

Getting StartedCan I use the exported mockups commercially?

Yes. The PNG and MP4 files you design and export yourself can be used in client work, marketing, e-commerce listings, and presentations. Always make sure the artwork and logos you upload carry the appropriate commercial-use rights.

TechnicalCan I set custom box dimensions in millimeters, centimeters, or inches?

Yes. Enter any width, height, and depth in millimeters, centimeters, or inches. The 3D preview updates in real time, so you can compare standard retail sizes, custom mailers, or shipping boxes without being limited to template dimensions.

OverviewIs Packview open source?

No. Packview is a commercial product built on the MIT-licensed open-source project packview, and its source code is not open (upstream attribution and license text are retained in the project LICENSE). The public instance on packview.cn is free to use, and you can start designing without an account.

OverviewWhat is a folding carton, and can I mock it up in 3D?

A folding carton is a box folded from a single sheet of paperboard, commonly used for retail products, cosmetics, food, and health products. Packview can simulate folding cartons and mailer boxes with configurable lid and flap openings, letting you preview artwork, proportions, and shelf presence before printing.

vs. CAD ToolsWhat is the difference between a dieline and a 3D box mockup?

A dieline is a flat production file with cut, crease, and bleed lines for the printer, defining the manufacturing geometry. A 3D box mockup is a visual preview of how the finished package looks with your artwork, materials, and lighting. Use professional dieline software to produce print-ready files and 3D mockup tools for client presentations, e-commerce visuals, and design reviews.

TechnicalCan I preview tuck-end boxes and retail cartons?

Yes. Set retail carton dimensions and upload artwork to each face to simulate the proportions of tuck-end boxes and folding cartons. The tool focuses on visual proportion and artwork layout rather than engineering the production details of every glue flap or tuck-end tab.

Getting StartedCan I create a 3D box mockup without creating an account?

Yes. Open the studio and start designing immediately, with no account, email, or credit card required. You only need an account when you want to download production dieline files (SVG / DXF / PDF), which require logging in and verifying your email.

Export & FilesCan I record an unboxing video or animation of a box mockup?

Yes. Use the viewport recording feature to capture short MP4 videos of the 3D box, which is great for unboxing storyboards, crowdfunding clips, or social media teasers before a physical sample exists.

TechnicalWhat packaging materials can I simulate?

Material presets include kraft paperboard, white carton, gloss and matte plastic, corrugated board, and metallic foil. Combined with HDRI studio lighting, these presets give you a rough sense of how artwork will look on different substrates before printing.

Billing & SubscriptionHow do I cancel my subscription?

Anytime. Open Account Settings → Manage Subscription from your avatar in the studio — you'll be taken to the payment provider's customer portal, where you can cancel, change payment methods, and download invoices yourself. After cancellation, Pro access remains until the end of the current billing period and will not renew.

Billing & SubscriptionWhat is the refund policy?

Within 30 days of subscribing, if an exported dieline has a structural error that we cannot fix within a reasonable time, you are entitled to a full refund — contact support with the box style and dimensions and we'll try to fix it first. Other refund requests are reviewed case by case. Once a refund is completed, Pro access ends immediately.

Billing & SubscriptionCan I use Pro production files commercially?

Yes. SVG / DXF / PDF dielines, 300dpi print alignment images, and GLB mockups exported during your subscription can be handed to printers and die-makers for commercial production and sale. Box structures are common industry structures — confirm production compliance for a specific structure with your printer (see Terms §4).
